This stunning denarius from the reign of Mark Antony is a true masterpiece of ancient numismatics. The obverse depicts Antony himself, with the inscription "ANT AVG" and "III VIR R P C," showcasing his authority as a triumvir and his role in the Roman political scene. The reverse showcases a galley sailing to the right, a symbol of his naval power. Additionally, the reverse features the inscription "LEG - V," representing the famous Fifth Legion, which was likely the issuer of this coin. In the center, there is an eagle (aquila) standing proudly between two military standards (signa), symbolizing the military might of Antony's legion.
